TIGER WOMAN - Betty May and Sex, Drugs and Satanism in Bohemian London
with Celine Hispiche and Philippe Jacko

Thursday 13th September 2018
Doors open at 6:30 pm, Talk commences at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm

Dancer, singer, gang member, cocaine addict and sometime confectionist, Betty May rose from the 19th century slums of Canning Town to becoming a bohemian celebrity sensation and a regular fixture at London's Café Royal. She brushed shoulders with pimps, artists, gang leaders and the aristocracy but her most fateful adversary was the occultist Aleister Crowley, who she spent time with in Sicily at the Abbey of Thelema. In the late 1920s Betty was paid to record the details of her scandalous life in an autobiography and she had one hell of a story to tell.

Join us at Carlyle’s house for a one woman show with chanteuse Celine Hispiche and the phenomenal pianist and composer Philippe Jacko, who will transport you back to the London of The Belle Époque.
