PRIMITIVE LONDON (1965) Soho Film Night with Will Fowler and Vic Pratt at the Century Club - Soho W1 Wednesday the 23rd November 2022 Doors open at 6:30 pm, Talk commences at 7:00 pm Dedicated to rediscovering cult British films that might otherwise be forgotten, the BFI’s legendary Flipside curators Will Fowler and Vic Pratt will be coming to Soho for an evening dedicated to rediscovering cult British films that might otherwise be forgotten. This November, they will be showing Primitive London, a 1965 film offering a forbidden glimpse into the seedy side of 1960s London. Expect an exploitation film documentary on 'Swinging London' as it actually happened. Arnold Louis Miller, the director of 'Nudist Memories', interviews mods, rockers and beatniks. Wife Swapping, an overworked stripper, child birth, the killing of chickens and an interview with Billy J. Kramer also feature. Tickets £12 - please click here to buy. Will Fowler Will joined the BFI in 2005 as the archive’s first dedicated curator of artists’ moving image. Since then he has undertaken a number of film restoration projects, seasons and DVD releases, including GAZWRX: the films of Jeff Keen, Queer Pagan Punk: Derek Jarman (the largest ever Jarman retrospective) and This Is Now: Film and Video After Punk, currently touring internationally through LUX. He programmes the monthly BFI Southbank Experimenta strand and the Experimenta Mixtape. Vic Pratt Vic has been at the BFI since 1998, and now works as a Blu-Ray and DVD producer in the video publishing team. From 2006 to 2016 he worked in the curatorial team, researching, developing, exploring and sharing the BFI’s fiction collection. He co-created and co-programmed the BFI Southbank cinema strand The Flipside, has introduced many film shows at BFI Southbank, around the UK, and overseas, has conducted numerous onstage interviews with filmmakers and actors and has curated seasons of cult movies, British B pictures and ‘quota quickies’. |
